I have always loved fashion, putting together an outfit, and finding the right accessory to pull the outfit together. My college degree is in Physical Therapy and not in business or fashion. I was a Physical Therapist Assistant for 15 years, I worked in an outpatient facility for the local hospital. I loved being a PTA, I loved the work & I got to meet great people. But in May my mother passed away. It was life-changing in the respect that as I watched her passing, I could remember her saying she would have liked to gone back to school to become an RN. Her passing made me realize how short life can be and if you have the opportunity to realize a dream, grab that opportunity because life really is short. When my husband came home & told me The Curvy Closet was for sale, I was not very receptive at first. Then the memory of my mother and I conversations from years ago entered my head. Obviously, I recognized the opportunity & with my husband’s support, we acquired The Curvy Closet. Missy is the one who started The Curvy Closet with the goal of offering fashionable plus size clothes in a boutique setting. When we bought the store Missy text me & said, I know my baby is in good hands. I am going to continue the high standards that Missy set for the store, along with expanding to a website and social media sales. I want every woman to know that their self-worth is not tied to a number that is inside your clothes, that beauty is from within, & that is doesn’t matter if you are a size 2 or 24, the right clothes can make you feel confident, increase your self-esteem & make you feel like you can conquer the world.
